On the second and fourth Thursday of every month we host a Late Night Painting evening, where we keep the doors open until 10pm (last admittance 8.30pm) so you can get making and creating (you can even bring your own drinks if you wish).

We also regularly host craft workshops with expert tutors so you can learn a new skill, brush up on an old one and have a unique evening out...

Weaving Workshop

January 22, 2019

Weaving is a wonderful craft as it doesn’t require lots of tools and materials, it’s portable, and once you get into the rhythm of it it’s almost meditative.

​

In this beginner’s weaving class you will learn all the basics, including how to warp your loom ready to weave, how to choose which yarns to use, basic weaving techniques including rya knots and soumak weave, and how to end your piece.

​

We will also help troubleshoot some common weaving problems, and provide you with lots of tips and tricks to have you weaving like a pro in no time at all. You will make a beautiful woven wall hanging, which you will be able to customise to your own tastes, choosing from a huge selection of yarn colours and textures.

​

The ticket price includes a small lap loom to take home, a large eye needle, and enough yarns to complete your wall hanging, plus a tote bag to carry everything home in and a handy instruction booklet to refer to.

​

Papercutting Workshop

February 19, 2019

Transform a simple piece of paper into a work of art in our beginner’s papercutting workshop in time to make your designs for Christmas!

​

Using a few simple materials and tools you will create a beautiful delicate paper cut piece, and develop the skills to create even more pieces. During this two hour masterclass you will learn lots of tips and tricks to help you get started, and will begin by working through some practice exercise sheets to build up your confidence.

​

Once you’ve mastered the basic techniques we will move on to a pre-drawn design which you will be able to cut out using your papercutting skills, and then take home with you!

​

We will also discuss how to create your own designs for paper cutting, and ways of using your papercutting skills to create items such as cards, decorations, gift wrapping, and more. You will receive a papercutting kit worth £20 to take home with you, which includes a self-healing cutting mat, a scalpel and spare blades, more designs for you to cut out at home, plus a photo frame to display your papercut artwork in.

Frida Brooch Workshop

Craft a linen bust style brooch in the likeness of Frida Kahlo, using embroidery and needle felting techniques under the expert guidance of Kayleigh Jackson of Jennifer Jackson Dolls.

 

Learn insider tips and tricks that will cross over in to future craft projects, whilst also getting a peek into Kayleigh’s creative process. A selection of faux flowers and vintage trims will be provided, ensuring you can add your own flair, creating a Frida true to your own personal style. Finished brooches approx. 9cm tall.

 

Once finished it makes the perfect accessory to any outfit (especially a floral one!) and you can wear it with pride to the Frida Khalo: Making Herself Up exhibition currently running at the V&A until the 4 November.

Halloween pop up painting at Little Dukes

Join us at The Duke in Wanstead as we pop-up for some spooky ceramic painting. 

We'll be bringing along our Day of the Dead ceramic skulls, so your little ones can get spooky while keeping it colourful (and we'll also bring along cups, plates and bowls to choose from for those who are less keen on the spooky stuff.

Block Printing Workshop

October 09, 2018

Learn the beautiful yet simple art of relief printing using lino!

​

Channel your inner Orla Kiely by carving your image (freehand or transferred from a chosen picture, so no drawing skills necessary!) onto your lino piece and experiment with printing in a variety of colours. Inspiring images will be provided, or bring your own along.

 

Create two lino stamps using a range of cutting tools, which you can reuse at home. Use your stamps during the workshop to create a fabric tote bag, two A5 greeting cards with envelopes, a sheet of wrapping paper and as much sample fabric pieces as you like.

Don't be a mug - paint one instead! Pick one of our ceramic mugs, then grab a brush and paint your own personalised mug. Go freehand, use our stencils or bring your own design to transfer, then paint up a storm while enjoying a drink as Creative Biscuit pops up at The Dukes in Wanstead.

Creative Biscuit Pops Up at The Dukes Street Party

We'll once again be popping up at The Duke in Wanstead on Saturday 8th September between 12-5pm as part of their annual all-singing, all-dancing street party as part of the Wanstead Fringe Festival.

 

Come paint ceramics with us for the special price of £10 per item for cups, plates and bowls (which can be picked up from the cafe a week later), while enjoying all the other entertainment on offer.

 

Embracing a country / blues theme this year there will be live music, feasting at the crab shack / wing station, Morris Dancers (which are the BEST), comedians, line dancing, lashings of booze and a ton of kids activities from a Jingle Bop to face painting. Entry is free and everyone is invited!

Creative Biscuit Pop-Up at the Walthamstow Garden Party

The Walthamstow Garden Party is back again this July and we'll be popping up in the E17 Designers Marquee! 

We'll be joining in the fun on Sunday 15 July in the E17 Designers Marquee next to the William Morris Gallery and not only will be selling our own hand painted ceramics, but we'll be doing baby hand and footprints on cups, plates, planters and more. So bring your little ones along and get their prints captured forever!

With live music, circus, dance, film, theatre, craft trails and much more the Walthamstow Garden Party is a great day out, so come join us!

Knotted Necklaces Workshop

Colourful statement necklaces are bang on trend right now, and what better way to stand out from the crowd than by making your own unique piece of jewellery.

 

Zoe Bateman from Too Cute To Quit will teach you three different types of knots you can use to create your own amazing knotted necklaces, as well as different ways of finishing your necklace. Using the techniques you have learnt you will complete two necklaces during the workshop, plus you will get materials to take home to make a third necklace. They make perfect gifts too, if you can bear to part with them!

 

We have a range of chunky coloured cotton cord for you to choose from to make your necklaces. All materials and tools are provided, plus a cotton drawstring bag for you to take your finished items home in.

Soap and Bath Bomb Workshop

Using fresh and natural ingredients learn the skills to make your own soaps and bath bombs.

In this workshop you will learn to create a big bar of soap using items from your kitchen rather than expensive moulds, which can be sliced to make individual soaps (made using the melt and pour method). You can also create other quick fun soaps by using a range of individual moulds. We will then print our own paper to wrap the soaps in, making them the perfect handmade gifts.

As well as soaps there will be an introduction into making your own bath bombs, where you will learn how to combine ingredients and scents to make your bath smell and look amazing. 

At the end of the workshop you will take home two bars of scented soap, a beautifully scented bath bomb, a bath bomb mold and all the information you need to make more at home!

This workshop is the perfect way to help you ditch the plastic in your bathroom by making your own accessories with scents that make you happy!

Beginners Guide to Crochet - Scarves or Squares

In this class led by crochet teacher Sanna King you will learn all the basic stitches that you need as an introduction to Crochet. You can then pick a pattern to make yourself a scarf or to start on your very own Granny Square blanket. The Chevron Scarf patterns comes in 3 different shapes; straight & simple, skinny infinity loop or a button-up snood. The Granny Square is one of the most loved and iconic crochet patterns, and can be used as a starting point for many fantastic creations or accessories, as well as the classic blanket.

We will provide some materials and hooks for you to use while you practice the stitches and some supplies will be available to buy. You are also welcome to bring your own yarns and hooks if you prefer.

Needle Punching is one of the hottest new craft trends, and once you’ve tried it you’ll understand why! Using yarn and a punch needle tool you can create an endless range of designs that can be turned into wall hangings, cushion covers, rugs, lampshades, bags, and many other items.

 

Zoe Bateman from Too Cute To Quit will teach you how to use the needle punch tool, how to transfer your chosen design to fabric, how to combine different yarns to create different effects, as well as providing you with lots of tips and tricks to ensure you master needle punching in no time at all! We know you will be addicted once you have tried it, which is why you will get to keep your needle punch tool at the end of the workshop. Although the workshop is to create a wall hanging piece, you can easily remove the work from the frame and turn it into something else if you wish.

 

All materials and tools are provided, plus a cotton tote bag for you to take your finished items home in.

You will also learn lots of tips and tricks to get you tying knots like a pro in no time at all. The workshop is ideal for beginners, and you will leave with a completed wall hanging ready to show off to all your friends and family!

Ceramic Painting Pop-Up for Aplastic Anaemia.

Our lovely friend Claire is organising a charity event in aid of the Aplastic Anaemia Trust on 4th March and we're going to be there so you can do some ceramic painting while raising lots of money for charity.

Pick from cups, plates and bowls for the special price of £10 to paint on the day. We will then glaze and fire them and they will ready to be picked up from the shop one week later.

But that's not all, there'll be a fabulous clothes swish happening hosted by the awesome Craft Guerrilla, stalls selling hand made goods, second hand items, vegan food -including chocolates - a kids craft table, a pop up hair salon run by Claire Hair Cross, DJ's spinning tunes, a raffle, and lots more including a cheap bar!!!

Vintage Tea Cup Candles Workshop

Zoe Bateman of Too Cute To Quit hosts our Macrame Workshop, which is ideal for total beginners as you will learn a selection of basic macrame knots, how to read a macrame pattern, and even how to combine knots in different ways to customise your piece.

​

You can leave it as a wall hanging, or turn it into a wall hanging plant holder that will fit a plant pot with just a few extra knots.

​

All materials are provided including a cotton bag to carry your work home in. Macrame items make awesome gifts too, so come along and learn how then go off and make one for everyone you know just in time for Christmas.

Come and join us at The Rock Hound's East London Boutique for an evening of festive fun. Susi the Rock Hound's award-winning jewellery designer will teach you some tricks of the trade (sshhh don't tell anyone) to help you achieve a colour gemstone or diamond painting that pops. This forms the lid of your jewellery box which when finished will be lined with luxurious velvet. 

​

Or if you prefer to freestyle we can give you the dimensions ahead of time, give you a bit of guidance when you get here, then you can go wild. 

​

These will then be taken back to Creative Biscuit HQ where they will be fired, sealing in your artwork with the glaze giving your gems a glowing polish. These will be ready to collect from  The Rock Hound from Saturday 9th December. 

​

Tickets cost £35 each and include all materials, wine and delicious nibbles.
